One thing that has come up concerns a reader who says he has done everything
 “those success books” told him to but he is still not been extra ordinarily
successful.

Aha! That’s what he needs an aha!… which is what Archimedes is
said to have acclaimed on a great discovery.

Aha!

I’m sure we all know the 17 success principles of Napoleon Hill
Desire, Faith, Persistence, Definite Major Purpose etc etc etc, and
I am sure most of us  have our futures designed around his 
“Six Steps That Turn Desire Into Gold.”

Seek and you shall find.
Ask and you shall receive
Knock and it shall be opened to you.

All of which depends on “where” you are seeking.
“Who” you are asking and
“Whose door” you are knocking on.

You know I believe that if you are not focused correctly you’ll be seeking
in the wrong places – asking the wrong people and knocking on the wrong doors.

Disaster.

For some time now I have promoted the theme of “Multiple Streams of Income” suggesting that more than one stream of income is a sound plan. It is.

You may have a job.
You may be developing bigger and better forms of passive income.
You may have a web page that is showing success.
You may be the owner of your own business.
You may be a day or position trader.
You may be on the verge of sacking your boss and going full time.
You may have unlimited sources of income.
For you are responsible for the seeking, asking and knocking in your life.
So don’t blame the government, circumstances, your past or
The people you deal with.
Blame yourself for being exactly where you are.
Tough one eh?

Let me tell you about someone I Know. Real gentleman and his wife is equally
as charming. Owns his own business, but really it is little more than owning
the right to have his own job. His profits, when offset by his debts, and a load
of obligations are not huge. He has a host of non supportive family members,
who soak up quite a lot of his hard earned wealth. But the fact that he
is independent of the “work for a living” syndrome give him sort of a
comfortable living but does not make him wealthy.

In the last 8 years or so he has attended many seminars and become enthusiastic
about all sort of “get rich” propositions.
Oh yes he is ”persistent” in some, but eventually he sees another glowing flag
of opportunity waving in the breeze. And loses focus.

Persistence is good. But like knocking on the wrong door one must be sure that
what one is persistent at is good.

There is one thing that is more important than persistence and that is focusing
on what is the “right opportunity” for you to persist with.

So my friend’s persistence wanes every now and then and his wandering
attention goes chasing off after new opportunities instead of being “persistent
in focusing” on the one’s already in his fold.

Should he ever find the opportunity that he is so excited about he will be able
to focus on it consistently. But his attention constantly wanders.

Let me tell you about another guy I know.

He wanted to be a mail order marketer.
Bought every book, cassette, cd, manual and dvd  available.
Every “How To Make It In Mail Order” book on the internet where there
are a multitude… just as there are  bags full of  “How to Get Rich Internet
Trading” by all those so called guru’s – yet – despite the fact that he was
a qualified scientist who had worked for CSIRO for 10 years, my good friend
couldn’t make any serious money in mail order marketing.

Eventually he went back to work where he is happy to receive his fortnightly
pay cheque. I mean this guy is so brainy. He just didn’t know
“how to focus” on any one of the products he had bought re-sell rights to.
And he had a literal garage full of them. I guess he just wasn’t focused. enough.
And he also was always looking for a new opportunity.
Which is why, after 3 years of trying to be a self employed mail order
marketer, he went back to a job he really doesn’t like.

FOCUSSING REALLY IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS.

Yes, “focusing” is what Napoleon Hill does not mention by name.
He does say that all you need to be successful is one good idea.
And that may be true. You have to focus on that idea and turn it from
a thought into cash. You have to focus on working it – almost exclusively –
and while keeping an eye out for any other opportunity –
 become an expert in the field of endeavour you are going to focus on..

Give 100 men a good idea and 4 would make “something” of it 1
would  make a million and 95 wouldn’t even know what the idea was
because they weren’t focusing on the idea..

You need to focus on one thing at a time.

I mean if you are day trading using something like candlesticks and 5 minute
charts you can not read a book on “How to Use Your Dreams Creatively’
at the same time. 

DON’T HIT THE WRONG BUTTON.

I have a customer who told me he was doing just this.
 “Reading and day trading.”
 
He missed his profitable exit one day.
Pressed “Buy” when he should have pressed “Sell” and wonder of wonders
his 6 year old lap top froze and by the time he had powered down
and powered up again he had two contracts in play and 4 times the losses
when he hit the wrong button.

Ever hit the wrong button just because of a lack of focus?

I know most of us have.

So where do you find the right idea to focus on?

Last story.

I spend quite a lot of time, when not trading, searching for opportunities.
A bit like my mail order friend I have a computer full of stuff that I have
bought all guaranteeing to make me an Internet fortune.

Now some of those ideas have made me a little money.

I also go to seminars regularly and at each one I find something that made
the venture worthwhile. But when it comes to passing on ideas to you
I often find that the offers I have bought are really nowhere near as good
 as they are advertised to be. And I don’t waste your time on worthless products.

Having said that I do have one that I am proving at the moment. It comes from a guy who is a super marketer and I have encouraged him to add an extra bonus, over and above what he offers everyone else.. I think it is a ripper and it will give almost everyone who takes it up a multitude of ideas.

Get ready to focus on something new.

Keep on focusing on what you do best right now.
