Wealth and Wisdom

Wisdom or Wealth

Michael Johnson here.

I had a dream recently.  A little of which appears herewith and I pass it over to you. Let us assume that you are in the prime of your life – age wise. Let us assume that your mental faculties are in superb working order. Let us assume that one day you have a dream.  A dream about walking up a mountain, and you find that this just happens to be “The Mountain of Money”. As you proceed, you suddenly discover a hidden cave that no one has found before and walk inside. There the lights shine and all around you, you see gold, diamonds, silver, precious stones, jewellery, money and a voice booms out:

“Welcome to the world of everything you ever wanted in life.” You mumble “Thanks” and the voice continues: “You can take as much of the world’s wealth that you find here for your own personal use, provided you remove it within the next 24 hours.”

  • What would you do? Would you be motivated?
  • Would the creative juices be flowing in your mind?
  •  Would you be an “idea factory” of plans to get your share of the money?
  • Would you be thinking one thought after another at faster and faster rates?
  •  Would you take all you could carry with you right now as you plan for your return trip?
  •  Would you be generating a do it now ideas?

You decide on “Do it now!” You fill your pockets and turn to leave. As you do so, you twist your ankle and it is so painful, you know that it will take you 24 hours to go down the mountain again. And you know you will never return in the specified time limit. Also your pockets are so full that they burst and you stand there with the nothing you started with.

Do you cry and feel sorry for yourself, believing that others will get this opportunity and that you will never get it again?                  The voice speaks again.

“If you choose to leave behind all the wealth I can give you the wisdom to make life better for yourself and for everyone you meet.” “I can make you into a person who truly makes a difference?”

This is a simple choice, “Wisdom or wealth?” The voice continues: “As the 24 hours no longer applies you have 5 minutes to decide what to do with your future?”

Wealth or wisdom? Wisdom or wealth? And you have 5 minutes to decide.

Which would you take?

OK. Let’s leave this dream for a moment and go back to the end of “part one” where you can make a fortune in 24 hours.

What was your first thought? That was the one that will decide where you are going in life.

I can tell you now that there are only two kinds of people in the world.

Those who spend each 24 hours doing as much as they can in every possible way to make this a better world, and by doing so become wealthy almost as an added extra to life.

And those who decide to think things over and make a decision tomorrow when they will be in a position to blame someone or something else for the opportunities that have passed them by yesterday.

Which kind of person are you?

Why am I writing this stuff? Well today is Sunday. And Sunday only contains 24 hours. And I choose to make a difference.

Before I close this short note let me tell you about a tale from the past when the Gods decided to give humanity all their wealth but to give it to them in such a way that it could never be lost. That humanity could keep the wealth from generation to generation, from century to century, for all time.

After much discussion the Gods decided there was only one possible place for this wealth.

And that was “within the mind of man.”

Best wishes for a great weekend.
